RCMP investigators are confirming that a body found near Langdon Monday morning is a homicide.

The body of a man was found face-down in the middle of a rural road east of Calgary by a passerby.

The Medical Examiner's office confirms the man died from gunshot wounds.

The man has been identified but his name isn't being released until next of kin can be notified.

Strathmore RCMP is investigating the death with help from the RCMP Major Crimes Unit.

The Calgary Police Service tells CTV it is not involved in the investigation.
