Rocky View County residents are being told to put away the incinerators and chimeneas, after a Level III fire ban was called on Tuesday.

The ban is due to an extreme fire risk connected with dry and windy conditions in the region.

Officials say that all outstanding burning permits are suspended until further notice.

The ban includes:

  • incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
  • regulated burning barrels
  • camp stoves
  • solid fuel barbecues (charcoal briquettes)
  • recreational camp fires (approved burn pit 24” in diameter or less)
  • chimeneas
  • fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas

It does not include internal household fireplaces or liquid fuel barbecues (propane or natural gas).

The ban itself will be in effect until further notice from the Fire Chief.

Further questions can be directed to the Fire Chief at 403-831-8401.
