The Calgary Flames 2014-2015 campaign began in the midst of a suspected rebuild but the team exceeded expectations to claim a playoff berth and a first round series victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Bob Hartley was named the winner of the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s top head coach following the team’s meteoric turnaround from the 77 point 2013-2014 season (13th in the NHL Western Conference) to 97 points in 2014-2015 (8th in the NHL Western Conference).

Hartley, the first Flames coach to win the award, received the honour at the 2015 NHL Awards on Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Alain Vigneault of the New York Rangers and the Peter Laviolette of the Nashville Predators were the Jack Adams Award runner-ups.

The Flames had a chance to claim more hardware during the ceremony as the following players were up for awards:

  • Jiri Hudler won the Lady Byng Trophy (combination of sportsmanship and ability)
  • Johnny Gaudreau - Calder Trophy finalist (top rookie) **Awarded to Aaron Ekblad of the Florida Panthers
  • Mark Giordano - NHL Foundation Award finalist (community service) **Awarded to Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks
