A Calgary man has pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 42-year-old woman.

Darren Coupal pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to five counts, including impaired driving causing death.

Coupal was charged after a hit and run crash April 30th last year in the southeast community of Bridlewood.

Linda Davey was out for a walk with family and friends when she was fatally hit.

Her 15 year old son, who has severe cerebral palsy, was seriously injured, as was another person.

Coupal's lawyer says his client knew he hit something that night but because of his own injuries, from the crash, and his level of impairment he didn't realize he'd hit people.

At the time of the accident, Coupal was driving without a licence which had been suspended months earlier because of another drunk-driving incident.

Coupal will be out on bail until his sentencing which is expected in February.
