An engineering program at Mount Royal University has been cancelled and students and staff are bracing for additional cuts as the school struggles to balance the budget.

MRU's engineering university transfer program will no longer be offered at the school in the fall.

The program allows students to take their first and second years at MRU and then transfer to another program to finish their degree.

Students currently enrolled in the program will be allowed to finish but many are disappointed it won't be available to future students.

The university transfer program is especially popular for mature students, new Canadians, rural students and students who are unable to take a full course load.
