Calgary police are asking the public for help to track down a suspect after a woman was groped on a southeast street in the early morning hours on Friday.

Police say that a woman was walking in the 6600 block of 4 Avenue S.E. at about 2:00 a.m., when she was approached by a man who started up a conversation.

The woman became uncomfortable and when she tried to walk away the man grabbed her in a “bear hug” and fondled her.

The woman was able to fight off the man and run from the area.

Police don’t believe the incident is connected to other recent gropings in the city.

The suspect is described as:

  • Approximately 175 to183 cm or 5’9” to 6’ tall
  • Slim build
  • Brown hair
  • Sporting a goatee
