The third person charged in the death of Ruchael Friars has been sentenced to life in prison.

Sarah Rowe was convicted of second-degree murder after pleading guilty to the lesser charge.

Court heard a victim impact statement from Friars' daughter. Her mother's badly decomposing body was discovered in a BFI landfill in South Calgary in 2006.

Rowe will serve life behind bars without the chance for parole for 12 years less time already served.

Two other people convicted in the killing, Crystal Dawn Struthers and Alexis Vandenburg, were previously sentenced to eight-and-a-half years each.
