Three people are lucky to be alive after the SUV they were in left the TransCanada Highway near Golden, B.C. and traveled more than 80 metres down a steep embankment.
It happened just before noon Saturday.
STARS Air Ambulance along with a number of emergency crews attended the scene.
Golden RCMP say an eastbound tractor trailer rolled while trying to take a turn.
The SUV, also traveling east, tried to avoid the trailer which caused it to leave the highway and tumble down the embankment.
Amazingly none of three people in the SUV were seriously injured.
Two men, both in their fifties, ended up in hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi and the third passenger of the SUV were also taken to hospital and released with minor injuries.
Highway 1 was closed for several hours to allow RCMP to investigate.
RCMP say charges against the driver of the tractor trailer are being considered.
