Members of the Stettler RCMP are thanking the public for supplying tips which assisted in locating a stolen pickup truck believed to have been in the hands of an ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect.
According to RCMP, officers responded to a home in northwest Stettler on Tuesdy afternoon following reports of an assault. While RCMP members searched for the suspect in the assault, a 29-year-old man from Red Deer suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at the Stettler Hospital. Police believe the man was shot during the reported assault.
The extent of the man’s injuries required additional resources and a STARS Air Ambulance crew airlifted the man to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.
Two men and a woman were arrested without incident following the shooting, but the three have been released from police custody and are not facing charges.
During the suspected assault and shooting at the Stettler home, a vehicle was stolen.
The stolen vehicle is described as:
- A 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty diesel pickup truck
- Alberta licence plate BPM 6591
- Four doors
- Having ‘Lamborghini’ style doors which rotate vertically
- Having a slip tank in the bed
- Having a Harley Davidson emblem near the driver side door (the truck in not a Harley Davidson edition)
On Thursday morning, the stolen pickup truck was located at an undisclosed location in the Red Deer area.
RCMP have not laid charges in connection to the vehicle theft or the shooting.
