A man and a woman have been arrested in Calgary following a police investigation into recent armed robberies.

According to CPS officials, RCMP advised local police of a suspected stolen truck entering Calgary city limits at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle was spotted several times throughout the city travelling at high rates of speed. The truck was tracked from the air by HAWCS.

CPS members located the truck outside of an apartment complex in Sunalta, in the 2000 block of 11 Avenue Southwest. At approximately 6:00 p.m., two unnamed suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested without incident.

Neighbourhood residents say they were surprised to see a large police presence. Cam Harper, who lives in the apartment building says the suspects recently moved in their unit.

“I’d seen them a couple of times,” said Harper.“They’ve only been living there for like a month.”

"I know the cops were called on them a few other times."

RCMP officials says the truck was allegedly stolen from a location in Airdrie and the ongoing investigation is believed  to be connected to Wednesday’s armed robbery in Cochrane and Monday’s armed robbery in Didsbury.

"That’s exactly what the investigation is trying to determine, if these two people in custody are indeed responsible for the crimes in these other areas.” said RCMP Sgt. Steve Vince. “The charges that are pending at this point are still being compiled by the investigators."
