The PC Party claimed victory for Tory Glen Motz in the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner byelection on Monday.

The former Medicine Hat veteran police officer had more than 69 per cent of the vote, with the Liberals coming in second place.

Not even the appearance by the Prime Minister a few weeks ago could turn the tide for the Liberals in the riding which has been a Conservative stronghold for more than 40 years.

The byelection was called to replace the late Tory MP Jim Hillyer who died suddenly of heart failure in March.
