The pickup truck that was involved in a brazen robbery at a jewelry store inside a northeast mall on Sunday morning has been recovered by police.

Police were called to Marlborough Mall at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday after a truck smashed through an exterior entrance and then into Anthony Jewellers.

An undisclosed amount of property was taken from the store and then the two offenders fled the area in the truck before police arrived.

The Ford F350 was found on Sunday in an alley near the mall by a neighbour who then called it in to police.

"Some sharp-eyed citizen alerted us to a truck behind the 4100 block of Maryvale Drive NE. So the truck was there, we found it and we were able to seize the truck and we've done an extensive forensic examination today," said CPS S/Sgt. Jim Stinson.

Investigators say the suspects had their faces covered during the robbery and that they were wearing gloves.

“It is brazen and bold and it’s troublesome, and that’s why we've deployed so many resources towards it because somebody that’s willing to go through those extents, it’s going to be dangerous, they don’t care about property, they don’t care about people that are in the mall so we want to get them if we can,” said S/Sgt. Stinson.

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage and say the vehicle was stolen.

“Bad guys always leave evidence, so if we find the vehicle that the bad guys were in, they are no doubt going to leave some kind of evidence in that vehicle and hopefully it’s something that we can use to solve the crime,” said Stinson.

Police say the store is still doing an inventory to see how much was taken.
