Alberta beef producers are hoping that it will be another banner year for the cattle industry as the Calgary Bull Sale kicks off on Wednesday.

This year will be the 113th time the sale as been held at the Stampede grounds.

Alberta cattle breeders say that prices have remained stable despite the beef recall at XL Foods last fall.
They are expecting prices similar to what they say last year.
"I'm expecting pretty similar prices to last year," says Nels Nixdorff of YV Ranch. "A good average and there's a lot of ranchers here to buy bulls. Quite a few pure bred breeders from other parts of the country come here to buy their purebred herd sires too."
The show begins on Wednesday morning in the Victoria Pavilion and runs Wednesday and Thursday. For more information on the bull sale visit Alberta Cattle Breeders.
The organization says it attracts the province’s top quality beef bulls and is the benchmark for other bull sales held across the Prairies this year.
