Correctional Services Canada confirms James Allan Christians passed away in a hospital in Saskatoon on Wednesday.
Christians had been serving a sentence in connection with the stabbing death of Carmel Christians, his estranged wife, in October 2013 outside of a home in the southeast Calgary community of Chaparral.
The 69-year-old was incarcerated in March 2016 and had been an inmate at the Regional Psychiatric Centre.
The nature of Christians’ death has not been released.
