The man who was wanted for second-degree murder in connection to the stabbing death of his estranged wife earlier this week has been arrested by police at a southwest gas station.

James Allan Christians, 65, was arrested at about 1:15 p.m., on Friday at a gas station at 37 Street and Richmond Road S.W.

He is charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon in connection with the stabbing death of Carmel Christians.

Police were called out to a home in the 100 block of Chaparral Valley Grove S.E. at about 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday and found Carmel Christians deceased in the street and another woman suffering stab wounds.

The other woman, Dolores McMartin, was taken to hospital and is recovering.

A man hunt was launched for Christians and police received dozens of tips on his whereabouts.

A CPS officer was on routine patrol and spotted Christians' truck at one of the pumps.

He was arrested within minutes and police say he did not put up a fight.

"One of our uniformed officers were patrolling in that area. They came across his truck, recognized the vehicle. The approached and as he got out of the truck he was arrested without incident," said S/Sgt Grant Miller.

Christians was known to police and a protection order was in place at the time of the homicide.
