While the project is still decades away, a City of Calgary committee is looking at options for a future expansion of the CTrain to the northern sections of the city.

The North-Central line is next on the list for the development of Calgary’s rapid transit network.

According to the plan, the Green Line will eventually run from North Point in North Central Calgary to Seton in the southeast.

Future extensions into the north will be reserved for the long term.

Officials say work is ongoing as to how the train should cross the Bow River, whether by tunnel or bridge.

A tunnel is more expensive than a bridge, but planners say the tunnel is a better use of money and is the proper solution.
