The Government of Alberta says it is conducting a review of circumstances surrounding the death of a two-year-old boy from the Tsuu T’ina First Nation

The boy was in the province’s care at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary and passed away on September 25.

Officials say the boy didn’t die of natural causes, but cannot go into further detail because the family has been granted a publication ban.

No charges have been laid so far.

The boy has four other siblings, two sisters and two brothers, all under the age of eight.

The First Nation says they will not comment on the death.

It is now up to the Fatality Review Board to determine if an inquiry is held into the death.
