Thousands of Calgarians have had their phone service restored following a Shaw service disruption Saturday morning.

According to Shaw Technical staff, via the Shaw Support Community message board, the organization is aware of the disruption and is attempting to restore service.

‘Some customers may be experiencing an intermittent interruption to their phone service, primarily in the Calgary and Hamilton areas including limited access to 3-1-1 services in the city of Calgary. Please note that 9-1-1 access is unaffected by this interruption. Our teams are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.”

“Our teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We don't have an ETA at this point, but once we have more information or our teams have informed us the issue has been resolved we will post an update.”

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., Shaw announced they had made progress with their phone lines.

"We are currently making steady progress and are close to fully resolving the interruption. We’re not out of the woods yet but the vast majority of our customers should now have full phone accessibility. Please stay tuned as we complete the reset on our phone switches which will restore full phone service."

The City of Calgary is aware of the 311 service disruption and is working with Shaw to restore phone service.

Calgarians in need of city services information are asked to visit the Calgary.ca website or download the city's free 311 mobile application from the iTunes store.
