The wet weather has put a damper on Calgary Stampede attendance; numbers have been down throughout the week.

Though attendance is down, there is an upside: the Stampede is providing an incentive to those who haven’t yet visited the grounds – or for those who’d like to go again.

Between 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, admission to the park will be $5 per person. That’s a deep discount from the regular ticket prices where adult tickets cost $18 and seniors and children cost $9.

“The hundreds of thousands of guests who have joined us already this Stampede are having fun -  our experience ratings are trending higher than last year,” says Bill Gray, President and Chairman of the Board, Calgary Stampede. “Even if we can’t make the sun come out, we can make the fun come out!”

The Stampede says that, though attendance is down overall, they had budgeted for that given the economy in Alberta.

Tickets to the Grandstand during the weekdays are also undersold.
