Calgary police are asking for tips from the public in identifying three men and a beige minivan believed to be connected to Thursday evening’s fatal shooting in Arbour Lake.

According to CPS Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm of the homicide unit, police located a surveillance image of a minivan in an Arbour Lake parking lot in the minutes before 42-year-old Hui Xu (aka. Phillip Tu) was gunned down outside of his home in the 600 block of Arbour Lake Drive N.W.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a:

  • Pontiac Montana minivan
  • Believed to be a 2006 to 2009 model
  • Having tinted rear windows
  • Beige in colour

The driver of the minivan was wearing a distinctive hat while the two male passengers were wearing masks concealing their identities. Police believe the two masked men exited the vehicle during the shooting.

Staff Sgt. Chisholm says as many as 15 witnesses have been interviewed and information from the neighbourhood is contributing to the investigation.

“We’re really appreciative of the residents of Arbour Lake being in tune with what was happening in their community,” said Chisholm. “They have provided us with really valuable information that is assisting us in our investigation.”

“We want to thank them for coming to the aid of the victim and the victim’s family and helping us with supplying us with information related to this murder.”

Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
