Calgary police are looking into two robberies at drive-thru ATM machines and are working to determine if the incidents are connected.

The first incident happened on Saturday when a man went to the drive-thru at the Scotiabank in the 8700 block of Macleod Trail S at about 8:00 p.m.

Police say the male driver withdrew some cash and was approached by a man who took out a knife and demanded the driver hand over the money. The driver complied and the offender took off down 86 Avenue towards Bonaventure Drive.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Mid 20s
  • 168 cm to 178 cm or 5’6” to 5’10” tall
  • Slim build
  • Was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie under a dark-coloured jacket with a baseball hat

The second robbery happened on Sunday at the drive-thru at the Royal Bank in the 1200 block of Canyon Meadows Drive SE at about 7:00 p.m.

A man went into the drive-thru and took some money out of the ATM. He was then approached by two men with a knife who demanded he hand over the cash. He gave them the money and drove to a safe place to call police.

The first suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Mid 20s
  • About 183 cm or 6’ tall
  • 77 Kg or 170 lbs.
  • Slim build
  • Was wearing a green toque and a dark green jacket

The second suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Mid 20s
  • About 173 to 178 cm or 5’8” to 5’10” tall
  • 68 Kg or 150 lbs.
  • Slim build
  • Was wearing a toque and black jacket
