If you’re looking for an easy and cheap ride, there is a new alternative in Calgary, and it pledges to play by the rules.

TappCar is an Alberta-based company which is already running in Edmonton, but has only recently set up shop in Calgary.

The cars, which are identified with smaller orange logos, play by all the rules set out in Calgary’s bylaw that resulted in scuttling Uber’s plans to set up shop in the city.

All of the drivers that work for the company are insured and licenced properly.

For the first week, TappCar officials say they are also giving back. The organization is teaming up with the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre, with the company donating money from every ride.

“It’s going to be hugely beneficial for the children and families who use our services. They’re offering us $2,500 of free rides, plus a dollar of every ride the first week,” said Sheldon Kennedy. “So, to me, it’s going to be a huge asset to us.”

TappCar also says its vehicles are all newer models and it makes safety a priority.
