Calgary Police have charged a 21-year-old woman in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash back in September.
At about 5:15 p.m. on September 14, police were called to a crash between a sedan and a motorcycle at the intersection of 26 St. and Oakfield Drive S.W.
The motorcycle was westbound on Oakfield Drive when a Ford Taurus was southbound on 26 St., approaching the intersection.
Police say the car failed to stop at the yield sign and crashed into the motorcycle.
The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike and traveled an estimated 15 metres.
The Ford Taurus continued southbound, only stopping when it struck a nearby tree.
The passenger of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver, a 44-year-old man, was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Taurus, identified by police as Kelsey Lynn Tallman, was also sent to hospital in serious condition.
Tallman has now been charged with one count each of:
- Impaired driving causing death
- Impaired driving causing bodily harm
- Driving with a blood level exceeding 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood causing death
- Driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood causing bodily harm
- Dangerous driving causing death
- Dangerous driving causing bodily harm
There is no information on when Tallman is expected to appear in court.
