Closing arguments were heard Friday in the second degree murder trial of Aset Magamadova.

The Calgary woman is accused of killing her teenaged daughter by strangling her with a scarf.

Aminat Magamadova's lifeless body was discovered by police in the family's south east Calgary home on February 26th, 2009.

A family member made the call to 911 and the accused was still inside the home when police arrived.

39-year-old Aset Magamadova immigrated to Canada from Chechnya and was looking for a better life for her family.

At one point in the trial, Aset took the stand in her own defence and told the court that she feared her daughter and that she acted in self defence the night Aminat died.

She claimed that the girl swung a chair at her and then came at her with a knife.

Final arguments wrapped up and now the judge will make a decision in the case.
