Theoren Fleury will look for a roster spot with the team he debuted with more than two decades ago, as the reinstated NHL player has been invited to attend training camp with the Calgary Flames.

Following a meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly on Thursday in Phoenix, Fleury was reinstated and free to resume his playing career.

"I'm still in shock, it's been a very long road," Fleury told TSN on Thursday.

Fleury played 11 seasons with the Flames and helped the team win the Stanley Cup back in 1989.

Calgary Flames team officials refused to confirm the report late Friday afternoon.
