Child in life-threatening condition after being struck by vehicle in northwest Calgary

An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition after being struck by a vehicle in the northwest Calgary neighbourhood of Royal Oak.

The collision at the intersection of Royal Terrace and Royal Oak Drive N.W. took place just after 8:30 a.m.

According to police officials, the driver remained on scene and impairment is not a suspected factor.

Police say speed and sun are being investigated as possible factors.

Police also say the boy remains in life-threatening condition as of Monday afternoon.
