Officers will visit every known gang member in the city to check on their probation conditions and warn them their lives are in danger.

The new strategy comes after senior members of the Calgary Police Service met Wednesday to try and come up with new ways of tackling the city's gang problem.

There are an estimated 400 gang members in the city but officers say they will visit them all to make sure they know about the dangers of their lifestyle.

Any gang members under house arrest or with other court conditions will also face arrest if they attempt to attend the funeral of 22-year-old Sanjeev Mann.

Police say Mann was the known gang member killed in the Bolsa restaurant shooting on New Year's Day.

CTV News has learned Mann was a member of the FOBK gang operating in the city.

The warning comes as police try to solve the latest shooting in Calgary.

Shots rang out in the northeast community of Coral Springs just before seven o'clock Tuesday night.

Investigators say two men had just exited a vehicle and were walking toward a home in the 100 block of Coral Shores Landing when one man was hit.

A 20-year-old man suffered minor injuries to his back.
