RCMP say they know the identity of the mystery woman who helped Ryan Jenkins check into a B.C. hotel room but they won't say who she is.

"The RCMP believe they are aware of the identity of this female, we don't believe she is a risk to public safety," says Sgt. Duncan Pound.

Jenkins was found dead in the Hope B.C. hotel room on Sunday after being on the lam for a week.

The 32-year-old appears to have hanged himself.

Jenkins was wanted in the United States for the murder of his ex-wife Jasmine Fiore. Her body was found on August 15th in a suitcase in a dumpster. Police say her fingertips were cut off, her teeth were missing and she was strangled.

Authorities now believe Jenkins killed her because of a love triangle involving himself, Fiore and another man. "Our understanding, it was a jealous anger resulting in the beating and strangulation," says Tony Rackauckas the Orange County district attorney.

Jenkins managed to walk across the border back into Canada.

On Friday, he checked into the hotel with the help of a woman who was driving a PT Cruiser with an Alberta licence plate. The woman paid cash for a three nights stay for Jenkins then she drove away.

RCMP say the woman could be charged in Canada for helping Jenkins enter the country illegally.

Jenkins' mother lives in Vancouver and is extremely distraught. She does not believe her son killed Fiore and says the media attention pushed him over the edge.

"My son is innocent and I think he panicked and I'm dead inside. I'm devastated, what can I tell you? I loved him, he's my only child," says Jenkins' mother.

Jenkins was a former Calgary real estate agent and investor who moved to Los Angeles to appear on a realty television show.
