Patrons at 80th & Ivy Modern Kitchen enjoyed some live music with proceeds going to help a Calgary girl diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour.
Natasha Gould, 12, has been very public about her battle with cancer, keeping an online blog and speaking at rallies. She kept her passion for cheerleading alive throughout her illness, and has inspired many, including local musicians Justine Tyrell and Taylor Cullen, who wanted to do what they could to help.
They held a concert at the restaurant on Friday night and donated their pay to fundraise for Natasha, and encouraged donations from the audience. Even though they have never met Natasha, they were touched by her story.
“I can’t imagine what I would do if it was somebody close to me or my daughter, so I just feel like it’s the right thing to do,” said Tyrell.
Recently, Natasha's health has deteriorated dramatically. She has lost most of her mobility, cannot speak, eats through a feeding tube and doctors say she may have only weeks left to live.
Her parents need help caring for her around the clock. If you'd like to help, log on to websites here and here.
